"Shall the ax boast itself against him that heweth therewith? Shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? As if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself as if it were no wood!" (15).The footnote for this verse says that the prophet is comparing the king to a tool; the king of Assyria. But I think it also teaches us a lesson to not be boastful.
Being the Lord's tool is a very good thing. The Lord knows how best to use you and help others and such. However, if we have acted according to God's direction and served someone, and then go about boasting to everyone that it was all you, well, it's not very smart. So be humble and do your best to follow God's directions.
