Gender

"Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose."
The Family: A Proclamation to the World

In my Family Relations class, we listed a few of the stereotypical masculine and feminine traits:
How could these characteristics benefit a family?
In an ideal marriage, it results in two experts coming together on a problem. Two experts to see a different perspective on a situation. To see through each other eyes. Imagine a child that didn't do his homework. The father might be more worried about the fact that the homework didn't get done; because he is task oriented. The mother might be worried because of the social reasons behind his not doing his homework; because she's relationally oriented. Both are situations that need to be addressed. Having a dual expertise means more likely for a problem to be noticed and to solve.

Another interesting idea mentioned in class was the idea of a "Honey Do List." It was introduced by the girl that the "Honey Do List" was created because the woman's split awareness resulted in having a list of things to do and get done. A list helped her to focus. Yet, she'd give it to the husband who was task oriented and could be hyper focused.

How else could these traits benefit a family?
