3 Nephi 19

Prayer. I don't think we realize how important it is.
I really don't.

In the last few chapters, when Jesus is among the Lamanites and Nephites, he teaches them many things. But I get a sense that the people learned a great deal more through Christ's prayers to the Father.

As the people were diligent in following his commandment to pray, the Holy Ghost was present. As they continued to pray unceasingly as Christ prayed for them, the scriptures read:
"And it came to pass that when Jesus had thus prayed unto the Father, he came unto his disciples, and behold, they did still continue, without ceasing, to pray unto him; and they did not multiply many words, for it was given unto them what they should pray, and they were filled with desire" (24).
The people knew what to pray about. They were inspired. They didn't originally know what to pray for. They were literally taught as they prayed. They were sincere. There were no vain repetitions. They prayed what was given unto them.

And imagine this:
"And it came to pass that Jesus blessed them as they did pray unto him; and his countenance did smile upon them, and the light of his countenance did shine upon them, and behold they were as white as the countenance and also the garments of Jesus; and behold the whiteness thereof did exceed all the whiteness, yea, even there could be nothing upon earth so white as the whiteness thereof.  . . .
"And when Jesus had spoken these words he came again unto his disciples; and behold they did pray steadfastly, without ceasing, unto him; and he did smile upon them again; and behold they were white, even as Jesus." (25, 30).
Christ smiled. His countenance was bright. His countenance smiled upon them.
Could you imagine such a sight?

Just from obeying him and praying. From having such great faith and obedience. And they were blessed. Christ prayed again and the words he spake could not be written so great and marvelous they were.

Don't forget to say your prayers. They may seem insignificant. They are not. They are of such great significance and so easy to do.

You kneel down. In reverence you address your Heavenly Father and speak to him. Then you close in the name of Jesus Christ.

Don't forget to pray.
