President Ezra Taft Benson said: “Day by day [Latter-day Saints] move closer to the Lord, little realizing they are building a godlike life. They live quiet lives of goodness, service, and commitment. They are like the Lamanites, who the Lord said ‘were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and they knew it not.’ (3 Ne. 9:20; italics added)” (“A Mighty Change of Heart").

How do we build a godlike life? Ezra Taft Benson said that we are to have faith. We are to have virtue. We are to add knowledge to our faith and virtue. We are to be temperate. We are to be kind. We are to be charitable ("Godly Characteristics of the Master").
