The Bible

Scriptures are an amazing work of God that I don't think we take full advantage of them as we should.

Richard G. Scott said,
"Because scriptures are generated from inspired communication through the Holy Ghost, they are pure truth. We need not be concerned about the validity of concepts contained in the standard works since the Holy Ghost has been the instrument which has motivated and inspired those individuals who have recorded the scriptures.
"Scriptures are like packets of light that illuminate our minds and give place to guidance and inspiration from on high. They can become the key to open the channel to communion with our Father in Heaven and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ" ("The Power of Scripture").

How do we not take advantage of such a work? They are for us! They give us guidance and comfort in this mortal life as we try to understand our place in the grand scheme of things. As Elder Scott said the Book of Mormon and the other scriptures, including the Bible, are recorded words of God. The Holy Ghost inspired the people involved with the scriptures. There was such a process of the coming forth of the scriptures. Do we not understand the sacrifices made to bring these books forth?

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints know about the process and sacrifices made to bring forth the Book of Mormon to the world by Mormon, Moroni, Joseph Smith, Jr and many others. But there was also the miraculous coming forth of the Bible that we don't seem to study as much.

There is a three part series entitled Fires of Faith that Brigham Young University created about the creation of the King James version of the Bible: Yearning for the WordMartyrs for a Book, and The King James Bible.

A few years ago there was a Mormon Message, "The Miracle of the Bible". It's not as in depth as the Fires of Faith series, but it's stilly pretty good.

I just hope that we each learn to take more advantage of the word of God. We are a blessed people to have the word of God so easily accessible. We should learn to be open to the guidence God wishes to give us. It'll make us much happier. A good way to invite that gudience is to read the scriptures. So take advantage of them!
